Habar Gedir is the clan of Mohamed Farah Aideed, the clannish bully & bigot & bore of Somalia & of Osman Atto, his right hand man for a while until the Americans seduced him to turn on Aideed; this is the gang of niente & nada & nyet! This is the clan that is synonymous with bililqsi, with plunder; the clan that became addicted to rape & rapine; the clan of brigands & bigots & bores. This is the clan that defeated every clan of Somalia except the Abgal clan, the cockney of Mogadishu; this is the clan that has been holding Somali captive & hostage over more than a decade and half now; this is the clan that cost Les Aspin, Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Defense, his job; this is the clan that dealt America her biggest humiliation & defeat since the Vietnam war; now there is a line drawn in the sand by the Habar Gedir that America dare not cross regardless of how it is tested & tempted—the Mogadishu line; this is the clan that lords over every clan in the country! 13. Mandeq: (Somali) A camel: metaphorically, Somali independence from foreign powers; an apt metaphor since in the world of Somalis, the camel, which they revere as “the mother of men”, is a very independent animal that roams where it wills; that just like the wind bloweth where it listeth.
